The STARS Program,
created especially for gifted and talented youngsters ages 7 to 12 years,
offers the best of two worlds. First, talented children spend their mornings
participating in stimulating workshops taught by knowledgeable mature
specialists. Subjects include science, chess, creative writing,robotics,
computers, rocketry and more. The STARS Program is designed to achieve the
right balance between structure and choice.
Second, fun-filled afternoons at Camp America Day Camp are designed
specifically with each child in mind. Swimming (in our heated pools),
tennis, creative and performing arts, team and individual sports, computers
and environmental studies, are among the many possible activities in the
campers' carefully designed program. The Camp America STARS Program is a
wonderful experience for the whole child.

Morning Workshops
Our morning workshops offer gifted and talented students the opportunity to explore with their hands and minds in an intellectually stimulating environment. This part of their program is completely elective. Children will choose two workshops per session from a wide variety of offerings as described on the following pages.
Professional teachers and instructors with experience and expertise in their areas and with the special needs of gifted and talented students will teach each workshop. These hands-on sessions and the talented staff will challenge the children's insatiable curiosity and drive for knowledge. There is something for everyone; including the world of science and technology with advanced computer applications, creative writing, video production, gamesmanship and problem solving.
Workshops Include:

Checkmate - An introduction to the exciting and challenging world of
chess.

Surprising Science - This activity oriented program is designed to
enhance young scientists' understanding of themselves and their
environment.

Adventures in the Lab - Uncover some of the mysteries of the
microscopic world and of life itself.

Dial "M" for Mystery - Students will examine the exploits of famous
fictional detectives and learn how they solve some of their most famous
cases.

Wonderworks - Have fun using science and nature to create mysterious
concoctions, grow crystals, make silly putty, erupt volcanoes, create
natural tye-dye and much, much more.

Mathematics and the Mind - Expand your mind with logic and critical
thinking.

TV, Advertising & Ethics - Explore the world of video production and
ethics in advertising by becoming a member of an advertising team.

Computer Aided Design - Design the transportation system, bridges or
skyscrapers of the 21st century.

Robots Alive - Bring the fascinating world of robots and electronics
alive.

The Camp America Reporter - Expose the truth and enlighten the rest of
the world by putting together The Camp America Reporter! Students
will learn to research and write news articles and feature stories and
using computers and desktop publishing software students will edit their
stories and design the layout.

Creative Writing & Publishing - Explore various genres of literature -
poetry - prose - fiction - short stories - plays. Write, design and
illustrate your own literary pieces.

Junior Electronics - Develop the knowledge and skills needed to
understand the amazing world of electronics.

Afternoon Fun
Camp AmericaDay
Camp is in it's 4th decade of providing quality programming to the children of
the Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery County area. Therefore, we can offer the
most outstanding, comprehensive afternoon program imaginable. Our afternoon
program provides your camper with a wide variety of activities (swim, team and
individual sports, outdoor skills, creative and performing arts) - socialization
and fun in an exciting and stimulating environment in Camp America's beautiful country setting.
Activities Include:

Swim - Our personalized swim program has been designed to meet the
individual needs of children spanning all ages and skill levels.
- Creative & Performing Arts
- Be they budding thespians, aspiring
artists, or just fun loving children, each camper is encouraged to express
his or her creativity. Children will have the opportunity to sing, dance
or act through a variety of activities.

Team and Individual Sports - Athletics provide a perfect vehicle for
building self-confidence and self esteem. In a non-competitive atmosphere
under the guidance of our knowledgeable, well-trained staff of
instructors, children are allowed to reach individual levels of success,
mastering specific skills while never forgetting to have fun. Tennis,
archery, boating, gymnastics, cooperative games, rock climbing,
basketball, baseball and street hockey are just a few of the sports they
will enjoy.

Nature - At Camp America, we create an environment for children
to discover the wonders of nature. Each child is introduced to the living
things we share our universe with, from creatures beneath the soil to the
stars shining above our heads.

| Things To Know
Field Trips
- Fun-filled field trips are a special part of every STARS camper's
summer at Camp America. Well planned trips to a wide variety of
interesting local attractions are an integral part of the STARS program.
These excursions, planned and selected with the children, will reflect their
interests and extend naturally from workshop selections.
Program - Each child will choose his/her own morning workshops. In the afternoon,
campers will travel in bunks following a specially planned schedule that
includes sports, drama, arts and participation in many of our traditional day
camp activities. Information regarding the workshop selection process will be
sent to each family in the Spring.

Qualification -
A letter
from the child's school district or other qualified professional identifying
